PM pays floral wreath to Zia on his martyrdom anniversary
On the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid tribute by placing a wreath at his grave.

Today, Saturday at 11 am, he placed a wreath at the mausoleum of Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

At that time, BNP Standing Committee members Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, and Minister of Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare Professor AZM Zahid Hossain were with him.

Additionally, senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Mir Abdus Salam, Masum Ahmed Talukder, Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain Bakul, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habibur Rashid Habib, Aminul Haque, SM Jahangir, Rafiqul Alam Majnu, Shirin Sultana, Sultana Ahmed, Helen Jerin Khan, Arifa Sultana Ruma, Mir Sarfarat Ali Sapu, Rafiqul Islam, Shafiqul Alam Milton, Rafiqul Islam Bachchu, and leaders from various levels of the party were present.


After placing the wreath, the Prime Minister and members of the party's Standing Committee observed a moment of silence to pay respect to the founder of BNP.

Later, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman participated in a prayer gathering organized by the Nationalist Ulema Party at the mausoleum premises.

BNP and its associate and affiliated organizations are observing the 45th martyrdom anniversary of the party's founder Ziaur Rahman through various programs.

 
Ziaur Rahman was killed by a group of rogue soldiers on May 30, 1981, at the Chittagong Circuit House while he was President. BNP observes the day as his 'Martyrdom Day'.

On the occasion of the day, from dawn, the party flag was flown at half-mast at BNP's central office in Nayapaltan, the party chairman's office in Gulshan, and party offices across the country. At the same time, the national flag and black flags were hoisted.

After the Prime Minister's tribute, leaders and activists of Dhaka Metropolitan North and South BNP, Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Muktijoddha Dal, Sramik Dal, Krishak Dal, Mohila Dal, DAB, AB, Ulema Dal, Chhatra Dal, and various other associate and professional organizations paid tribute by placing flowers at Zia's mausoleum.

Since May 25, BNP has been observing an eight-day program centered around the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. As part of this, a discussion meeting will be held tomorrow, Sunday, at the Engineers Institution auditorium in the capital from 2:30 pm.

After paying tribute, Tarique Rahman will inaugurate a program to distribute clothes and dry food among the destitute in front of the T&T building on Manik Mia Avenue.

Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the BNP Chairman will participate in the distribution program of clothes and dry food at a total of 17 spots in the capital's North and South City Corporations.
