At the beginning of the meeting, Speaker Ghalibaf warmly welcomed the arrival of the Bangladesh delegation to participate in the state funeral of Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
At this time, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed expressed deep sorrow over the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and condemned his assassination. He expressed solidarity from the Bangladesh government and people to the Iranian government and its people during this time of national mourning.
The Speaker said that Bangladesh and Iran have long-standing friendly relations, cultural ties, and deep connections between their peoples, which he expressed hope would be further strengthened in the future.
He praised the constructive role of Speaker Ghalibaf in implementing the recent peace memorandum between Iran and the United States. At the same time, he expressed hope that this initiative would help establish lasting peace, stability, and prosperity for the people of Iran and the entire region.
Reiterating Bangladesh's support for the ongoing peace process, he said that sustainable solutions to all unresolved issues are possible through dialogue and diplomatic efforts.
At the end of the meeting, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed invited Speaker Ghalibaf to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.
Earlier, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed arrived in Tehran on Thursday to lead the Bangladesh delegation at the state funeral. Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Hamid Reza Haji Babai, welcomed the Bangladesh delegation at the airport.
