Direct Sylhet-Manchester flight resumes after long hiatus

To mark the flight, Industry and Commerce Minister Khondkar Abdul Muktadir, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita, and Prime Minister's Advisor Humayun Kabir, along with others, welcomed the passengers at Osmani International Airport.

Earlier on Saturday, Biman Bangladesh Airlines departed for Manchester on flight BG-207 with 192 passengers. That flight carried 171 passengers from Sylhet and 21 from Dhaka.

The resumption of direct flights fulfills a long-standing demand of the Sylheti diaspora living in the United Kingdom.

It is worth noting that on January 29 this year, the issue of resuming the Sylhet-Manchester route was raised in a meeting with relevant parties. Later, on February 4, a promise was made to launch the route if the BNP government was formed. Four months after the new government took office, that promise has been fulfilled.
