3 injured including July fighter in organized attack by Awami League in Shahrasti

In the complaint, Rakib Hossain claimed that about a month ago, a dispute arose at a wedding ceremony in the village, leading to an altercation with some of the accused. Although the matter was resolved locally, the complaint states that since then, the accused had been threatening him and his associates with intimidation and death threats at various times.

According to the written complaint, on July 7, 2026, at around 5:30 PM, while returning home after work, a group of people armed with local weapons blocked their way in the Manipur area near the houses of the accused. Later, an attack was carried out on Rakib Hossain, Russell, and Fahim. Three people were injured in the incident.

The complaint further states that during the attack, Tk 20,000 in cash and an Android mobile phone worth about Tk 22,000 were snatched from Russell. It was also alleged that when Al Hasan Sohrab came forward to rescue the injured, he was also beaten. Tk 35,000 was taken from him, and a mobile phone worth about Tk 16,000 was vandalized.

Hearing the screams, local people rushed to the spot, upon which the accused fled the scene. Later, the locals rescued the injured and admitted them to Shahrasti Upazila Health Complex. After treatment, Rakib Hossain filed a written complaint at the police station.

Rakib Hossain claimed that the attack was carried out with the intention of killing him and that the attackers are involved in Awami League politics. However, no immediate comment was available from the accused regarding this allegation.

Regarding this, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahrasti Model Police Station, Mir Mahbubur Rahman, said the complaint has been received. If the allegations are found to be true after investigation, necessary legal action will be taken against those involved.
