Earlier, the Election Commission Secretariat announced in a notification that the gazette containing the name and address of Sarwar Alamgir as the elected Member of Parliament from the Chattogram-2 constituency in the thirteenth national parliamentary election was published on July 9.

On the same day, the High Court declared the Election Commission's decision to cancel Sarwar Alamgir's nomination paper illegal. The bench comprising Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Md. Asif Hasan delivered this verdict.
In the verdict, the court stated that there is no longer any legal obstacle to Sarwar Alamgir taking oath as a Member of Parliament.
