Opportunity for government employees to enjoy a 4-day break with just one day of leave

According to the government holiday calendar, next August 5 (Wednesday) will be a general holiday across the country on the occasion of 'July Mass Uprising Day'. The following day, August 6 (Thursday), is the only working day. After that, August 7 (Friday) and August 8 (Saturday) are weekly holidays.

As a result, if someone can take one day of casual or earned leave on August 6, they will have the opportunity to enjoy a consecutive four-day holiday from August 5 to August 8.

On this occasion, government, semi-government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous institutions, as well as most private institutions, will remain closed. However, emergency and service-oriented sectors in the public interest will be exempt from this holiday.

During the holiday period, essential services such as electricity, gas, water supply, fire service, telecommunications, internet, postal service, hospitals and emergency healthcare, life-saving medicines and medical equipment transport, among others, will remain operational as usual.

Meanwhile, regarding how banks and financial institutions will operate during the holiday, the Bangladesh Bank will issue instructions soon. The Bangladesh Supreme Court will announce decisions related to the holidays for higher and lower courts.

As in previous years, with the weekly holidays coinciding with the government holiday, many employees are already planning to return home or travel in advance.
