OpenAI unveils GPT-5.6, brings three new AI models

Among them, Sol is the most powerful model, Terra is for mid-range users, and Luna is designed as a lower-cost version. OpenAI said the new models will be more effective than before in enterprise services, software development, coding, and scientific research.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the new models are more efficient and capable of working at lower costs compared to previous versions. According to him, the Sol model can perform the same type of tasks in coding using approximately 54 percent fewer tokens than before.

The company claims GPT-5.6 is their most powerful model in terms of cybersecurity capabilities to date. It includes security measures such as threat modeling, code review, patching, and blue teaming, which will help identify and prevent potential vulnerabilities.

Additionally, OpenAI has launched a new workplace-oriented tool called ‘ChatGPT Work’. This platform, usable on web, desktop, and mobile, will assist with various daily office tasks including document creation, spreadsheets, and presentations.

To further strengthen its position in the competitive market, OpenAI has also highlighted comparisons of the new models' performance with those of rival companies. The company claims that Sol is their most advanced coding model to date and has outperformed several competing models in terms of speed, cost, and efficiency.

OpenAI has announced that GPT-5.6 is now available on ChatGPT, Codex, and the OpenAI API.
