He made these remarks in a speech on Friday (July 11) on the occasion of World Population Day 2026.
Youth are the future and main driving force of the country: President
The President said, Bangladesh is one of the most populous countries in the world and about one-third of the country's population is youth. If this vast population can be transformed into skilled human resources, it will be possible to build a prosperous future for the country. He also mentioned that this year's theme, 'Realize the hopes and aspirations of youth, build a beautiful tomorrow with today's commitment,' is timely and significant.
He informed that the government is implementing various initiatives to modernize, vocationalize, and make the education system production-oriented to raise the youth as well-educated, skilled, self-reliant, and morally upright citizens.

The President further said that special emphasis is being given to technical and vocational education to enhance the creativity, leadership development, and digital technology skills of the youth. Alongside this, initiatives to increase awareness, expand social safety net programs, and ensure strict enforcement of the law to combat social problems like drugs, child marriage, and violence are ongoing.
He said, good health of citizens, planned families, and quality healthcare are prerequisites for building a sustainable and capable nation. Therefore, the role of all concerned is necessary to make health and family planning, maternal and child health, reproductive health, and adolescent healthcare more effective and universal.
In his speech, the President called upon families, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, and all segments of society, along with the government, to work together for the development of the youth.
Finally, he wished success for all programs undertaken on the occasion of World Population Day 2026.
