World Population Day today

This year's theme has been set as: 'Realize the hopes and aspirations of the youth, build a beautiful tomorrow with today's commitment'.

On the occasion of World Population Day, President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman have given separate messages.

On the occasion of the day, a discussion meeting has been organized tomorrow (Sunday) at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital. President Md. Sahabuddin will be present as the chief guest. Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain will also participate in the event.

In addition, special programs will be broadcast on Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, and various private television channels on the occasion of the day. National dailies will also publish special supplements.

It is noteworthy that in 1989, the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) decided to observe World Population Day on July 11 every year to increase global awareness and draw urgent attention to population issues. Subsequently, on July 11, 1990, the day was celebrated for the first time in 90 countries around the world.
