Body of youth recovered from ditch beside in-laws' house in Pabna

The body was recovered around 10 am on Saturday (July 11) from the Naldaha East Para (Lalgola) area of Bhandara Union in Sadar Upazila.

The deceased, Tuhin Khan, was the son of Habibur Rahman (Habi Kha) of Tatipara village in Chartarapur Union, Sadar Upazila. His father-in-law Akhtar Hossain is a Dubai expatriate, and his wife is Afsana Khatun.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station, Tariqul Islam, confirmed the matter.

According to local sources, Tuhin went to his in-laws' house for a visit on Friday. In the evening, he had a family dispute with his wife Afsana Khatun. On Saturday morning, locals saw a body floating in a ditch and informed the police. Later, police went to the spot and recovered the body. A towel was wrapped around the neck of the body.

OC Tariqul Islam said that it is initially believed that Tuhin committed suicide by hanging himself with a towel on the veranda of a mosque. Police received information around 2 am and went to the spot but did not find the body at that time. Later, it was initially learned that some locals threw the body into a pond. In the morning, seeing the body floating in the ditch, the police were informed again.

He further said that preparations are underway to send the body to the morgue of Pabna General Hospital for autopsy. The actual cause of death will be known after the investigation is completed.

According to initial police information, Tuhin was a drug addict and had a dispute with his in-laws over drug use. However, the cause of death cannot be confirmed until the autopsy report and investigation are completed.
