Rain that started late Saturday night continued from dawn until 7 am on Sunday. As a result, water accumulated on roads in various areas of the capital, including Azimpur, Chankharpul, New Market, Paltan, Arambagh, Fakirapul, Green Road, Tejturi Bazar, Panthapath, Manipur, Bashundhara Residential Area, Dhanmondi 27 and 32, Mohammadpur, Karwan Bazar, and Shyawrapara.
Thousands of people faced hardship while heading to work in the morning. Many passengers traveling from Adabor to Karwan Bazar had to wade through knee-deep water in the Mohammadpur police station area and the back parts of Dhanmondi 27 and 32 roads to reach their destinations.
Due to waterlogging, the speed of vehicles on various roads in the capital decreased significantly. Long traffic jams also occurred in many areas, further increasing the suffering of working people and students.
Earlier, the Meteorological Department had forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in various parts of the country. In continuation of that forecast, continuous rainfall in the capital has created this situation of waterlogging.
