Prime Minister inspects Bangladesh Army's summer exercise in Barishal

The Prime Minister arrived at the exercise site in the Purba Rahmatpur area of Babuganj Upazila on Monday (July 13) at 11:30 AM. Later, he walked through the vast area to observe the ongoing training activities. Army officers briefed him on the strategic aspects of the exercise, combat readiness, and various aspects of realistic scenario-based drills.

During the visit, the Prime Minister also observed the operation of an anti-drone multi-barrel system used to detect and counter enemy drones. Concerned officials informed him about the effectiveness and usage of this technology.

The Prime Minister spoke with the soldiers participating in the exercise. He listened to their experiences in performing their duties, praised their professionalism, and urged them to carry out their responsibilities with dedication, discipline, and patriotism. At one point, he sat on the ground with the soldiers and spent time with them.

During this time, the Prime Minister also ate food prepared in a battlefield environment. He was served rice, lentils, mashed potatoes, shrimp, and egg curry cooked for the soldiers.

Later, in a speech to the soldiers, the Prime Minister said that the Bangladesh Army has always set a shining example of professionalism, courage, and patriotism in protecting the country's independence and sovereignty. He emphasized maintaining modern training, use of technology, and maximum preparedness to uphold the trust and dignity of the people.

He said that because he grew up in an army family, seeing soldiers brings back childhood memories. He always feels comfortable spending time with them.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that the Bangladesh Army will continue to maintain its professionalism and reputation at home and abroad in the future. At the same time, he assured that the government will continue to provide all necessary cooperation for the modernization and capacity building of the army.

During the visit, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, the Prime Minister's Defense Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A K M Shamsul Islam, Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman, the Prime Minister's Military Secretary Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq, and other senior army officers were present.
