The directive was issued in a government gazette on Tuesday (July 14).

The gazette stated that former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani passed away on July 12 (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Rajiun). Known as one of the architects of modern Qatar, he was a true friend of Bangladesh and expatriate Bangladeshis. The government has decided to observe state mourning on his death.

According to the directive, on Wednesday, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, all educational institutions, government and private buildings, and Bangladesh missions abroad.
