France's exit from the World Cup, 160 arrested across the country in clashes
After losing 2-0 to Spain in the World Cup semifinals and being eliminated, tense situations have arisen in various cities of France. After the match, clashes broke out between some supporters and police in several areas, including Paris and Lyon. Law enforcement agencies have arrested at least 160 people in operations to bring the situation under control.

French media BFMTV reported that among those arrested, 141 were detained from the capital Paris alone.

According to the police prefecture, most of those detained are accused of throwing firework mortars at police officers and emergency service workers.

Meanwhile, in Lyon's Place Bellecour square, hundreds of supporters watched the semifinal match on a big screen. Many remained there after the match ended. Later, several small groups threw various objects, especially fireworks, at security forces, causing the situation to escalate.

To bring the situation under control, the riot control unit CRS-83 was deployed. Subsequently, in a joint operation, the protesters were dispersed and about 20 people were arrested. According to local administration, most of those arrested are young people born between 2002 and 2011.

However, authorities also gave some reassuring news about the entire incident. According to them, no serious casualties occurred in the clashes. Additionally, no significant damage to public or private property has been reported.
