Chattogram Zoo to be upgraded to international standard: State Minister Tuku

He said these things while exchanging views with journalists after visiting Chattogram Zoo.

The state minister said, with the aim that future generations, especially students of schools, colleges and universities, can acquire practical knowledge about the various animals of the country, their characteristics, lifestyle and environmental importance, the zoo will be redesigned.

He further said, the main objective of a modern zoo is not just animal display; rather, to ensure an integrated environment of animal conservation, research, education, environmental awareness and healthy recreation. To this end, modern infrastructure, improved management, visitor-friendly amenities and educational activities will be incorporated in Chattogram Zoo.

Mentioning that there are plans to modernize other zoos in the country gradually, he said these institutions will be made more attractive in line with visitors' demands and times. The government's goal is to turn the zoo into an effective education center for children, adolescents and young people to learn about nature and biodiversity.

Regarding the development of Chattogram Zoo, the state minister said that in addition to ensuring safe and healthy habitats for animals, modern facilities for visitors will be increased. Along with creating a suitable environment for spending time with families, initiatives will be taken to give the new generation a practical understanding of the country's animal resources and biodiversity.

During the visit, Member of Parliament for Chattogram-7 constituency Hummam Kader Chowdhury, Director General of the Department of Livestock Md. Shahjaman Khan, and senior officials from various related government departments were present.
