Government's 180-day achievements must be objectively presented to the people: State Minister for Local Government

He said these things as the chief guest at a meeting held on Thursday (30 July 2026) at the conference room of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division in the Secretariat regarding the progress of implementation of the 180-day action plan prepared by the ministry division according to the government's election manifesto.

At the beginning of the meeting, presentations were made from various departments and organizations under the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division on the progress, achievements, existing challenges, and necessary measures to overcome them regarding the implementation of the 180-day action plan.

The State Minister said that each department must present their scope of work and achievements in a concise but data-driven manner. He especially instructed to include specific information in the report on tree plantation and environmental conservation, employment generation, women's empowerment, new project adoption, agricultural development, loan distribution, number of beneficiaries, increase in cooperative members, training programs, and public awareness activities.

He said that coordination with NGOs, voluntary organizations, and social organizations must be strengthened to make government activities more effective and people-oriented. Through integrated initiatives, the benefits of development can be delivered to the people more quickly.

Emphasizing the development of skilled human resources, the State Minister said that through skill development training, third language education, and need-based technical training, employment opportunities abroad must be created for a larger number of manpower. He also expressed the opinion that self-employment opportunities should be created through appropriate training for imams, muazzins, and other responsible persons of religious institutions.

He further said that all types of government services must be ensured to reach the actual beneficiaries. To this end, an initiative will be taken to conduct a national survey as part of implementing long-term development and service action plans. Through this survey, it will be possible to collect information on the country's population, socio-economic status, and other important data, which will play an effective role in future planning and targeted service delivery.

The meeting, chaired by the Secretary of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division, Mohang Shawkat Rashid Chowdhury, was also attended by Registrar and Director General of the Cooperatives Directorate Md. Selim Fakir, NDC; Director General of Bangladesh Rural Development Academy (BARD), Comilla AKM Tareq; Managing Director of Small Farmers Development Foundation Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman; Director General of Bangladesh Rural Development Academy (BARD), Comilla Saif Uddin Ahmed; Managing Director of Bangladesh Milk Producers' Cooperative Union Limited Jahidul Islam; Managing Director of Rural Poverty Alleviation Foundation Subrata Kumar Sikdar; Director General of Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bogura Md. Abdul Majid Pramanik PhD; Director General of Rural Development Academy (RDA), Gopalganj Abdullah Al Mamun PhD; as well as all project directors under the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division and other senior officials of the division.
