United States changes travel advisory for Bangladesh
The United States has updated its travel advisory for Bangladesh. In the new assessment, the country's overall advisory level has been lowered from Level 3 (Reconsider Travel) to Level 2 (Exercise Increased Caution).

It was stated in a government press release that the decision was conveyed after a meeting between Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and US President's Special Envoy Sergio Gor in Dhaka on Thursday (30 July). After the meeting, Sergio Gor informed the Foreign Minister about the US decision via a brief message.

Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir was also present at the meeting.

The notification said the decision to lower the travel advisory level reflects the United States' growing confidence in Bangladesh's overall security situation and stability. It further stated that over the past six months, the government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has achieved visible progress in improving the law and order situation. Additionally, the decision also signifies the long-standing bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and the United States moving in a positive direction.

According to the government, this improvement in the travel advisory is international recognition of the steps taken to strengthen the country's security and stability. At the same time, hope has been expressed that it will play a positive role in further increasing international travel, trade, investment, and people-to-people contact between Bangladesh and the United States.
