Murder attempt and robbery case sought against 10 NCP leaders including Patwari-Sarjis in Habiganj
In Habiganj, an application has been filed at the police station accusing 10 leaders, including National Citizens Party (NCP) central chief coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwari and northern region chief organizer Sarjis Alam, of attempted murder, assault, vandalism and robbery.

On Thursday (July 31) around 10:30 pm, District Chhatra Dal Joint General Secretary Md. Iqbal Hossain Rukan filed the complaint as plaintiff at Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station. The case also named 40-50 unidentified people as accused.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Model Police Station Md. Zahidul Haque said, a complaint has been submitted on behalf of Chhatra Dal. After investigating the complaint, necessary legal action will be taken.

District Chhatra Dal General Secretary Md. Zillur Rahman also confirmed the filing of the complaint at the police station.

The complaint states that as part of the central Chhatra Dal program, leaders and activists gathered in front of Court Mosque from the afternoon until night on July 28 to meet the family of July movement martyr Ripon Shil and take part in a mourning meeting. At that time, Nasir Uddin Patwari, Sarjis Alam, district convener Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, member secretary Mahbubul Bari Chowdhury and 40-50 others reportedly attacked with local weapons.

In the incident, district Chhatra Dal leaders Mahfuz Chowdhury, Mozakkir Hossain Iman and several others were injured. The attackers hit them with iron rods, cleavers, pickaxes and bricks, the complaint also said.

Additionally, during the clash, the plaintiff's mobile phone, mobile phones of Mozakkir Hossain, Mahfuz Chowdhury, Mahmudul Hasan Gazi and Shimul Hasan, and Tk 50,000 in possession of Roxy Islam were allegedly snatched. Later, when police arrived at the scene, the accused left, and the injured received treatment at Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital.

The other accused in the case are: Nur Alam Chowdhury, convener of Habiganj district National Chhatra Shakti; member Advocate Fakhruddin Ahmed Jaki; Abdul Hai Kamal; Ruham Gazi; member secretary Mahbubul Bari Chowdhury Mubin; central coordinator Nahid Uddin Tarek; district convener Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal; and district committee member Wadud Mahmud Chowdhury.

Meanwhile, centering on the same incident, earlier the NCP also filed a case against 100 people, naming 11 including district Chhatra Dal president Shah Rajib Ahmed Ringgon.

The NCP claims that after the 'July March' and roadside rally on July 28, at least 15 leaders and activists, including Sarjis Alam, were injured in an attack by Chhatra Dal while returning to the Circuit House. The party also claims that one NCP worker lost an eye in the attack.
