The incident took place on Friday (July 31) after Jumma prayers, as Chuppu was leaving a mosque in Gulshan. In the video, Shahbuddin Chuppu, dressed in a light olive-green panjabi, white pajama, and cap, is seen walking toward his vehicle under state security cover.
At that moment, one person greeted him. Meanwhile, from behind, another person is heard saying, "A thief is being given protection." Later, the same individual adds, "He has usurped the rights of 180 million people."
It may be noted that Md. Shahbuddin Chuppu resigned from the presidency last Friday afternoon. He submitted his resignation after serving nearly three years and eight months in office.

After resigning, he told the media that he had been suffering from various physical complications for a long time. Following doctors' advice, he required advanced medical treatment and complete rest, which made it impossible for him to continue discharging presidential duties.
He assumed office as the 22nd President of Bangladesh on February 13, 2023. Following the subsequent political changes, despite protests in front of Bangabhaban demanding his removal at various times, he remained in office considering the matter of constitutional continuity.
