He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the civic reception programme given to the champion Comilla district cricket team in the 44th National Cricket Tournament-2026, organised by Comilla City Corporation, at the Comilla District Shilpakala Academy auditorium tonight.

The minister said, along with economic development, the development of sports is also important in building a nation. That is why the government is organising various school-based sports competitions across the country to increase sports practice among students.
He said, many educational institutions in the country have playgrounds, but they are not properly maintained. If the grounds are preserved and developed, more skilled players can be produced from the local level.

He has talked to the concerned ministry about establishing a sports infrastructure or sports department in Comilla. He expressed hope that necessary steps will be taken in this regard once a suitable location is identified.
He said those who are bringing honour for the country and society through sports need to be properly valued. The government will continue providing necessary assistance to talented athletes.
Addressing the players, the minister said, they have to prepare themselves with dedication and rigorous practice. He expressed hope that one day Bangladeshi players will bring even greater success for the country on the international stage.
