He made these remarks as the chief guest at a discussion meeting and photo exhibition organized on Saturday (August 1) at the National Press Club in the capital to mark the second anniversary of the 2024 popular uprising.

The Information Minister said that in a democratic state system, parliament, consisting of the people's elected representatives, is the primary forum for resolving political differences and national issues. While the government seeks to resolve various issues through discussion and dialogue within parliament, he noted that some political parties are still giving more importance to street movements.

He said that a section of the country's youth was previously caught in various confusions. Now the time has come for them to move beyond that situation and engage themselves in the work of building the state and society.

Zahir Uddin Swapan further said that movements and struggles may be programs or strategies of any political party, but the BNP's main objective should be to play a positive role in nation-building.

He claimed that the BNP has long spoken about political values and democratic practices, and the new generation that participated in the 2024 popular uprising are the bearers of that very spirit. At the same time, he alleged that the past fascist regime had conspired to politically eliminate BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia with the aim of weakening democratic forces.
