Awami League has no capability to do anything: Home Minister

He said these things while talking to journalists on various contemporary issues at the Secretariat on Monday (August 3) afternoon.

The Home Minister said, “The banned Awami League has no ability to carry out any activities around August 5. They are occasionally peeking from abroad. On this occasion, police will perform their regular duties. No separate instructions have been given in this regard.”

Regarding former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed, the minister said that although a Dubai court granted him bail with conditions, the Bangladesh government has appointed a law firm to cancel the bail so that he cannot leave the country.

In response to a question about the recovery of bomb-like objects at various places recently, Salahuddin Ahmed said whether there is any connection between the incidents is being investigated. However, there is no reason for the public to be panicked.

He further said that the government is keeping a constant watch on the situation. The Home Minister also remarked that extremist groups occasionally try to show their activities.
