Opposition's language should not incite conflict: Mirza Fakhrul
Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the language opposition leaders are using in their speeches on the streets is not decent. Although holding agitation is the opposition's democratic right, it must not in any way lead to conflict.

He said these things on Monday (August 3) at around 11am at an event organized at the National Press Club in Dhaka on the occasion of the second anniversary of the July mass uprising.

Mirza Fakhrul said the propaganda that the BNP does not want the implementation of the July Charter is not correct. He claimed that the Consensus Commission has imposed a question in the referendum and the nation has been deceived in this regard. However, the party has clearly stated the issues it has objections to.

He said, “BNP is committed to implementing every part of the signed July Charter.”

Regarding the media, the Local Government Minister said the government is not making any kind of interference. He also claimed that there is no factionalism inside the BNP. Rather, he commented that there is a tendency among journalists to create divisions and remove one another. At this time, he called for ensuring the appointment of qualified people in media institutions.

Regarding the implementation of the July Charter, Mirza Fakhrul said a committee has already been formed on this matter. However, differences have arisen over reform or amendment. He believes these issues should be discussed in parliament itself.

He also said, “It is not right to come out and speak in the language of Hasina. The situation should not reach such a stage where political differences turn into conflict.”
