Admission to Class XI based on results, no admission test

To this end, the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has sent the draft admission policy for Class XI to the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education.

On Monday (August 3) afternoon, the matter was confirmed by the president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Professor Syed Akteruzzaman.

He said, No major changes are being brought to the admission process for Class XI this time either. The proposal to conduct the admission process based on results or marks, as last time, has been kept in the policy.

The SSC and equivalent examination results will be published on the upcoming August 10. Earlier, there was a plan to publish the results on July 20, but it was postponed because the education boards' preparations were not complete. After the results are published, successful students will be able to apply for admission to Class XI.

However, although admission in most colleges and madrasas across the country is based on results, in several church-run colleges, including Notre Dame College and Holy Cross College, admission tests will be held as before, according to court directives.

According to education board data, there are more than 26 lakh seats in Class XI in the country's higher secondary-level colleges and madrasas. On the other hand, more than 18 lakh 57 thousand students took part in this year's SSC and equivalent examinations. As a result, like last year, a significant number of seats in Class XI are likely to remain vacant this year too.
