1 killed in clash between two Russian nationals in Rooppur

The incident took place on Monday (August 3) morning on the fifth floor of building No. 6 of Green City, the residential area for foreigners working at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project.

The deceased, Kudrin Sergei (56), was working as an ultrasonic testing inspector at Trust Roseme, the contractor firm of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project. He lived in room No. 51 of building No. 6 of Green City. The identity of the other injured Russian national could not be known immediately.

Police and local sources said that after drinking alcohol in the morning, an argument broke out between the two Russian nationals. At one stage, it turned into a physical altercation. Both were seriously injured in the clash. Later, they were taken to Green City Hospital. When Sergei's condition deteriorated there, he died on the way to a private hospital in Pabna.

Pranab Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police of Ishwardi Circle, said the body was recovered and sent to the morgue of Pabna General Hospital for autopsy. It is initially believed that the incident occurred following a physical altercation between the two Russian nationals while intoxicated. However, an investigation is underway to ascertain the actual cause of the incident.

He further said legal action in this regard is in progress.
