Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque calls on youths to come forward in building a healthy society
Youth and Sports State Minister Md. Aminul Haque urged young people to be inspired not only by sports but also by social responsibility, morality and human values. He said the youth must lead in building a peaceful, healthy and humane Bangladesh. He also called upon everyone to remain alert and responsible so that no disorder or unruly environment is created in society.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the mini marathon titled ‘Tiger Run 2026’ organised at Jahangirnagar University on Tuesday (4 August) morning on the occasion of World Tiger Day.

Aminul Haque said, “The responsibility of the university is not only of the vice-chancellor or the administration; as a citizen, each of us has a responsibility towards the state and society. We want to build such a Bangladesh where a peaceful environment will be maintained and no one will get the opportunity to create disorder.”

He said, those who woke up in the morning and took part in this run have within them the dream, expectation and responsibility of taking the country forward. It is through such young people that a healthy society can be built.

The State Minister said, at first he did not have a clear idea about ‘Tiger Run’. But after coming to the event, he was impressed after learning its purpose and significance. In his words, “Centring World Tiger Day, such arrangements should be made not only at Jahangirnagar University but also at other universities of the country. This will help make the youth aware about wildlife conservation, the biodiversity of the Sundarbans and the environment.”

He said, this programme is not just a run; it can also play an important role in building morality, social values, responsibility and human consciousness among the youth. Such initiatives are necessary to remove social decay and bring about positive change.

The Youth and Sports State Minister said the government is giving utmost importance to reducing educated unemployment and creating employment. He said, “Our goal is that no educated young man or woman in the country remains unemployed. It is our priority not just to produce degree holders, but to create employment opportunities through training, skill development and involvement with various social organisations.”

He informed that the executive director of a voluntary organisation participating in the event had presented an initiative to involve about 25,000 volunteers with the organisation. Calling such an initiative positive, he said the active participation of the youth is essential in building the development and a humane state of the country.

In his speech, Aminul Haque also laid emphasis on wildlife conservation and compassion towards animals. He said, to ensure the coexistence of humans and nature, love and responsible behaviour towards all animals, including wildlife, must be developed.

Recalling his football career, he said he remembered the habit of practising in the early morning. He also remarked that this marathon, held in rainy weather, had brought a different dimension of joy to the participants.

Referring to a demand on behalf of Jahangirnagar University for the development of sports infrastructure, the State Minister said if the university authorities send a formal proposal, he would sincerely try to implement it.

Thanking the organisers of the event, he said such initiatives to involve young people in positive activities should continue in the future. He expressed optimism that a humane, developed and prosperous Bangladesh can be built through collective efforts.
