NCP now merged with Jamaat-Shibir leadership: Water Resources Minister Annie
Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie has claimed that the National Citizens' Party (NCP) has now become merged with the Jamaat-Shibir leadership. He also alleged that the party is creating divisions in the country's politics and making indecent remarks about BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

He said these things in his presidential speech at the 'July rally' organized by district BNP at the N. Ahmadiya Government Primary School ground in Lakshmipur city on Tuesday (August 4) afternoon.

The minister said, those who opposed Bangladesh during the war of independence have created leadership like Nasiruddin Patwari. Through them, the practice of 'impudent politics' began in the country, he remarked.

He said, "There is only one opposition party in Bangladesh, and that is Jamaat-Shibir. The newly formed political party called NCP has now become one with the Jamaat-Shibir leadership."

Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie said, apart from anti-fascist politics, there are currently two streams. One is of Jamaat-Shibir, and the other is the Bangladeshi nationalist stream built under the leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. He alleged that NCP leaders are constantly making indecent and provocative remarks about Tarique Rahman. However, he also mentioned that BNP is still showing patience.

Highlighting BNP's organizational discipline, the minister said the party has its own constitution and rules. There is no scope in BNP for language or behavior like Nasiruddin Patwari. He claimed that Tarique Rahman is very strict in this regard and has taken decisions like expulsion if necessary to protect the party's discipline.

He further said, "After August 5, they not only divided the July movement, but also created cracks in the country's politics and anti-fascist unity."

Referring to the killing of Krishak Dal leader Sajib in Lakshmipur on July 18, 2023, Annie raised the question: where were the current NCP leaders at that time? He claimed they had no role in the long 17-year movement and they are "July fighters after August 5".

The rally, moderated by district BNP joint convener Hasibur Rahman, was addressed as chief guest by BNP chairperson's adviser and Member of Parliament from Lakshmipur-2 constituency Abul Khayer Bhuiyan.

Besides, special guests included Shahadat Hossain Selim, Member of Parliament from Lakshmipur-1 constituency; BFF Vice President Wahid Uddin Chowdhury; BNP leaders Hafizur Rahman, Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan, Harunur Rashid Bepari; and Lakshmipur municipal BNP president Rezaul Karim Liton, along with local leaders.
