On Tuesday (August 4), six industrial establishments in Fatullah, Namapara, Sastapur and Kutubpur areas of Narayanganj were inspected under the initiative of the Dhaka Regional Office of the Department of Environment. The establishments are Eurotex Knitwear Limited, Karnaphuli Textile Mill, Dhaka Textile Mills, MM Dyeing, M/S Shaheen Textile Mill and IFS Textwear.
Environment Department conducts drives in Narayanganj and South Keraniganj to prevent river pollution, collects samples
During the inspection, samples of liquid waste discharged by these establishments were collected and sent to the laboratory of the Department of Environment. If the test results show evidence of environmental pollution, necessary legal action will be taken in accordance with the Environment Conservation Act and Rules.
Meanwhile, a team of the Dhaka District Office of the Department of Environment visited two factories named Azan Washing and Al Amin Washing in South Keraniganj. During the inspection, it was seen that the two establishments were operating washing activities without environmental clearance and ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant). Samples of liquid waste were also collected from there.

During inspection, other washing factories in the same area were found closed.
The Department of Environment said that regular inspections, monitoring and legal measures will continue to prevent pollution of rivers and water bodies, protect the environment and safeguard public health.
