July Mass Uprising Symbol of United Nation's Strength

He said these things in a statement issued on Wednesday (August 5) on the occasion of July Mass Uprising Day.

Professor Yunus said July was a memorable month of struggle, which will remain a symbol of national unity and resistance against injustice. He remembered with deep respect the martyrs killed in the mass uprising and expressed gratitude to those who were injured, lost their eyesight, and became permanently disabled.

He said July belonged to people from all walks of life. Students from schools, colleges, madrasas, public, private and national universities took to the streets. They were joined by teachers, guardians, journalists, photographers, politicians, civil society representatives, writers, artists, cultural activists, working people, professionals and doctors. At the same time, expatriate Bangladeshis living in different countries of the world also played an important role by expressing support for the movement.

In the statement, he said the bravery of women in July will remain a source of inspiration for future generations. In addition, the leadership of the students will continue to give courage and inspiration to the country's youth society in the days ahead.

Professor Yunus further said the July Mass Uprising proved that democratic, economic and social change is possible when the nation is united. He called upon everyone to work with firm determination to continue this journey.
