Sheikh Hasina Will Surely Return to the Country: Rumin Farhana
Barrister Rumin Farhana, Member of Parliament for Brahmanbaria-2 (Sarail-Ashuganj) constituency, has said that she believes Sheikh Hasina will return to the country at some point. She said that as a citizen of Bangladesh and in the continuity of her long political career, her return to the country is natural.

She made this comment while responding to questions from journalists on Wednesday (August 5) afternoon after a reception and discussion meeting organized by the Sarail Upazila Administration to mark July Mass Uprising Day-2026.

Rumin Farhana said, "Sheikh Hasina is a citizen of Bangladesh. She has a long-standing role in the country's politics. Additionally, members of her family were victims of assassination, and the Awami League has a historical role in the liberation struggle. Considering these matters, I believe Sheikh Hasina will definitely return to the country."

She said that if Sheikh Hasina does not return to the country, then the question also arises as to what the future of her political party and its long political history will be. Therefore, according to her personal assessment, Sheikh Hasina's return to the country is natural.

In response to a question about the ban on broadcasting Sheikh Hasina's speeches in the media, Rumin Farhana said that at present, almost everyone has access to the media. Therefore, it is practically impossible to prevent anyone from listening to a speech if they wish to.

She further said that in the past, during Sheikh Hasina's government, the broadcast of BNP's acting Chairman Tarek Rahman's speeches was also banned. In her words, if that was not considered a practice of democracy, then the current situation should also be judged by the same standard.

Regarding the recent clashes between Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir, she said that such incidents raise questions about the country's law and order situation and the control of political parties over their student wings. At the same time, she commented that this indicates that the country's politics is once again returning to a conflict-ridden trajectory.

The event, presided over by Sarail Upazila Executive Officer Saiful Islam, was attended by officials from various levels of the administration, family members of those killed and injured in the July Mass Uprising, and members of law enforcement agencies.
