This information was announced in a press release from the Ministry of Education on Thursday.
The press release stated that admissions to all other classes in primary and secondary schools will be conducted through admission tests.
Earlier, on March 16 of the current year, at a press conference organized at the Ministry of Education, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A. N. M. Ehsanul Haque Milan had announced that from the 2027 academic year, the lottery system for school admissions would be abolished and admission tests would be introduced.
At that time, he had said that instead of a lottery, arrangements would be made to hold tests for school admissions at the beginning of the year, and the lottery system would be withdrawn.
However, according to the latest decision, the lottery system remains in place for Class One, while admission tests will be held for all other classes.
Notably, in the 2011 academic year, the lottery system was introduced for the first time in Class One admissions, replacing admission tests. Later, in 2012, the same system was implemented in private schools as well.
