Upon receiving the news, fire service and police quickly reached the spot and brought the fire under control. It was not immediately known how much damage was caused in the attack. Additional police have been deployed in the area after the incident.
Attack and arson at former education minister Nawfel's residence in Chattogram
Panchlaish Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Zahedul Islam told media that police went to the spot after receiving the news of attack and arson around 2am. He said, 'The incident is being investigated. Efforts are underway to identify those involved. Legal action will be taken.'
The OC further said that seven miscreants came and tried to set fire. Later a pipeline caught fire. When local people came forward, they fled. Police could not confirm whether anyone was killed or injured in the attack. It was also reported that investigation has been started by collecting CCTV footage from the spot.
