BNP is afraid of India, history has been hidden in the museum: Nahid Islam

On Saturday (August 8), he said this to journalists after visiting the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum. Nahid Islam raised the question: if BNP truly did not fear India, then they would not have removed from the museum the history that India was involved. He said India was directly or indirectly involved in the fascism that was established in Bangladesh over the past 16 years. But that history was not kept in the July Museum. Even after going through the entire museum, one would not feel that any foreign power, especially India, was linked to that fascism—this history has been deliberately omitted.

Earlier, after visiting the museum, Nahid Islam and NCP leaders stressed the importance of preserving the memory of the sacrifices of the martyrs and the wounded and presenting the history of the July movement to the new generation. It may be noted that this memorial museum was set up at Ganabhaban to preserve, research and display the history, artefacts and documents of the July Mass Uprising. Nahid Islam had earlier demanded that the museum be opened to the public by August 5.

NCP leaders believe that the museum is extremely important so that future generations can learn about the background of the movement, the participation of students and the masses, and the sacrifices of the martyrs. The party is already observing a month-long programme titled 'Desh Gorte July Jagoron' (July Awakening to Build the Country).
