Regarding health policy, Tarique Rahman said the main objective of the current government is 'prevention is better than cure' — that is, giving more importance to preventing diseases than treating them after they occur. He believes that if people are made aware from the beginning about the causes of diseases, prevention and healthy lifestyles, the prevalence of many diseases can be reduced. In this context, quoting American inventor Thomas Edison, he said Edison believed that the future doctor would not only give medicine, but would also make the patient aware of his dietary habits, bodily care and disease prevention — which is also consistent with the current government's health policy.
