He said these things as the chief guest at the responsibility handover, oath-taking and annual general meeting of the newly elected executive committee of Barura Upazila Janakalyan Samiti, Dhaka, held at IDEB Bhaban in Kakrail, Dhaka on Saturday (8 August).
The minister informed that initiatives have been taken to bring about 300 small and large roads of Barura upazila under various projects. Work is underway with the target that there will be no unpaved road in the area within the next two or three years. Besides, initiatives have been taken to implement several important road projects for the development of east-west and north-south communication systems.
In the education and health sectors, he informed that an initiative has been taken to establish a technical college in Barura, and a target has been set to complete its tender process by the end of this year. Besides, various steps are being taken to improve health services in the area, including the establishment of a 101-bed hospital.
The minister said, mentioning that he has received the responsibility through the votes and prayers of the people, he is committed to being regularly accountable to the people regarding the progress of development activities, and he seeks everyone's cooperation and prayers for the overall development of the area.
The event was presided over by President of Barura Upazila Janakalyan Samiti Md. Shah Alam and attended by General Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain. Professor Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin, Abdul Haque, Monindra Kishor Majumdar and Nurul Islam Milon spoke about the activities, progress and plans of the association. Members and general members of the executive committee, including Engineer Atiqur Rahman and Md. Abdus Samad, were present.
At the beginning of the event, the formal handover and oath-taking of the newly elected committee members was completed. Later, at the annual general meeting, detailed discussions were held on various achievements of the organization, future action plans and initiatives taken for the welfare of the people of the area.
