According to the Election Commission's schedule, if there is more than one candidate, voting will be held in the Parliament chamber from 2 pm to 5 pm on the upcoming 20 August. The opposition alliance Jamaat-e-Islami LDP has already nominated its chairman, Col. (retd) Oli Ahmad. On the other hand, the ruling BNP has not yet announced its candidate.
If there are ultimately two candidates, voting will take place in the presidential election for the second time since 1991. Although the ruling party's candidate won unopposed in the last seven elections, the EC has started preparations this time because the Jamaat alliance has fielded a candidate.
