Inclusive and climate-resilient water management to be developed: Water Resources Minister

He said these while speaking as the special guest at a seminar titled “Equitable Socio-Economic Development and Achieving SDG Targets 3, 5, 6 and 10”, held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre today, as part of a national conference on the guidelines for implementing the five-year strategic framework for achieving SDGs organized by the Planning Commission.

The Water Resources Minister further said that Bangladesh is one of the most vulnerable countries in the world due to climate change. Challenges like floods, river erosion, cyclones, droughts, waterlogging and salinity have made our water management more complex.

He also informed that the Padma Barrage Project has been approved with the aim of transforming the lives, livelihoods, agriculture and economy of the people of the south-western region. In addition, he expressed hope for quick approval of the Teesta Master Plan after receiving experts' opinions.
