In the advisory on Canada's travel website, it has been said that in Bangladesh, political tension, court verdicts or political programmes can trigger protests, clashes and public unrest at any time. Referring to traffic congestion, suspension of business and the risk of violence in such situations, Canadian citizens have been advised to avoid large gatherings and protests and to follow the instructions of local authorities.
Additionally, Canada has taken a stricter stance regarding the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Citing the risks of political violence, kidnapping and clashes in that area, an 'Avoid all travel' instruction has been issued.
Earlier, in September and December of last year, the Canadian government issued travel advisories on Bangladesh in two phases. Through the latest update, that advisory has been kept in place.
