ADB to stand by Bangladesh in banking sector reform and restructuring
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has assured continued cooperation in the reform, restructuring and recapitalization of Bangladesh's banking sector. The organization has expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation with Bangladesh Bank to make the country's financial sector stronger, more stable and sustainable.

These issues were discussed at a meeting between Bangladesh Bank Governor Md. Mostakur Rahman and an ADB delegation led by Vice-President Yingming Yang on Thursday (August 13).

At the meeting, positive and constructive discussions were held on the reform, restructuring and recapitalization of Bangladesh's banking sector, enhancing the stability and capacity of the financial sector, and possible ADB cooperation in these areas.

Bangladesh Bank Governor Md. Mostakur Rahman highlighted the central bank's firm commitment to implementing necessary reforms in the banking sector and the overall financial sector. He exchanged views with the ADB delegation on various aspects of the ongoing reform activities to make the financial sector more effective, stable and capable.

In response to the Governor's remarks, ADB Vice-President Yingming Yang welcomed Bangladesh Bank's commitment to implementing reform programs and expressed interest in continuing ADB's cooperation and support in the reform process of Bangladesh's financial sector.

At the meeting, both sides expressed their resolve to further strengthen mutual cooperation in building Bangladesh's financial sector on a stronger, stable and sustainable foundation.
