On Friday (August 14), Modi wrote on his verified Facebook page, "Today we remember the horrors of Partition. We remember the courage and struggles of those who were affected by it." He noted that in that chapter of history, countless families were torn apart, people were forced to leave their homes and become refugees, and endured immense suffering after losing loved ones.

He also highlighted that even amid those adversities, people built new lives from nothing, and that struggle is a shining example of their human resilience and indomitable spirit. He concluded, "May this day further strengthen the resolve to preserve harmony and brotherhood, and inspire the collective building of a developed India."
