On Friday (14 August), the letter was sent to the President on behalf of the opposition leader. Copies of the letter have also been sent to the Prime Minister and the National Parliament Secretariat, according to Jamaat-e-Islami's central publicity department.

The letter said that the country is currently facing a severe electricity and energy crisis. Uncontrolled load-shedding has made the daily lives of ordinary people miserable. At the same time, industrial production and trade and commerce have suffered severe damage. The letter also mentioned that due to the electricity and energy crisis, the prices of essential commodities have increased abnormally. In addition, the deterioration of the overall law and order situation has also been highlighted.

In the letter sent to the President, the opposition leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, as representatives of the people, it is not possible to remain silent in such a critical situation of the country. Meaningful discussion in the National Parliament is necessary to address the situation. At the same time, it is urgent to find a quick solution to the crisis. Further delay should not be made in dealing with the electricity and energy crisis spreading across the country along with the overall socioeconomic problems.

In the letter, the opposition leader called upon the President to immediately convene a special session of the National Parliament in order to quickly resolve the electricity, energy crisis and other related problems.
