He said these things on Saturday (August 15) at a milad and doa mahfil organized in front of BNP's central office at Naya Paltan on the occasion of Begum Khaleda Zia's 82nd birthday.
Mirza Fakhrul said, Khaleda Zia was a fearless democratic leader who dedicated her entire life to democracy. On this day she was born—who has become intertwined with the destiny of Bangladesh.
He said, through her uncompromising leadership and struggle, she repeatedly brought Bangladesh back to democracy and led the struggle to protect the country's sovereignty.
Through long struggle and fight, not compromising on any issue, keeping the party under her care, and acknowledging the sacrifices of leaders and activists, she brought BNP to this position today. The chief architect of the fact that BNP is today a truly democratic mass party is our leader of the nation Begum Khaleda Zia. Her ideals and inspiration always show us the way.
Highlighting the country's current context and future thoughts, he said, on this auspicious day, our pledge is to turn BNP into such a strong democratic party that will be able to truly lead Bangladesh. BNP will continue to work in the coming days to implement the 'Vision 2030' and ideals that Begum Khaleda Zia showed, and to keep the country's independence and sovereignty intact.
Mirza Fakhrul sought special prayers and forgiveness from the countrymen for former president Shaheed Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia.
The event was moderated by BNP's senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. Maulana Advocate Abul Hossain Monajat, member secretary of Jatiyatabadi Ulama Dal, conducted the prayers.
In the prayers, BNP standing committee members Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Vice Chairman Ahmad Azam Khan, Chairman's adviser Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, among others, participated.
