The State Minister made these remarks on Sunday (August 16) while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized by the District Administration and the Department of Fisheries in Panchagarh on the occasion of 'National Fisheries Week 2026'.

The State Minister said that fish is a safe and important source of animal protein for the people of the country. The government has taken initiatives to increase fish production, meet people's nutritional needs, and make ordinary people self-reliant.

Allegations of Theft in the Power Sector
Referring to the previous government, he said that the former fascist regime turned the power sector into a haven for theft. A crisis was created by including their relatives and party loyalists in power generation centers. Mentioning that after forming the government, they had to tackle that crisis, he said that under the Prime Minister's intervention, they are gradually overcoming it.
He also informed that the Prime Minister is directly overseeing the matter and has apologized to the nation while seeking everyone's cooperation. It is hoped that the power crisis will be resolved and normal supply restored within a short time.
Initiative for Solar Power Generation
The State Minister said that initiatives will be taken to generate solar power through individual, collective, and investor efforts on rooftops, fallow lands, riverbanks, and other locations. He expressed the expectation that by next December, not only will the power shortage be met, but electricity production will exceed demand.
The State Minister also called upon everyone to inform authorities if any syndicate regarding fertilizer is formed.
Earlier, he released fish fingerlings into a pond in Panchagarh Sadar Upazila. The discussion meeting was attended by District Administrator Md. Shukria Parvin, Additional Police Superintendent Farhad Hossain, District Fisheries Officer Dr. K. M. N. Abdul Halim, along with leaders of various political parties, fish farmers, and concerned individuals. Five fish farmers were awarded and honored at the event.
