Information services will be made technology-based and people-friendly through modern information complexes: Information Minister

The minister said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the construction work of the divisional modern information complex at Ichakathi Kashipur in Ward No. 29 of Barishal city on Sunday morning.

The minister said the main objective of building the information complex is not just to construct a modern building, but to provide modern technology-based information and services to the people through it. In the case of a computer, smartphone or any other technological product, not only its price is important; the real value of such technology depends on how effectively it is being used in people's daily work. Similarly, the real success of the information complex will also depend on how modern and effectively people can receive services from it.

He said that alongside various modern technology-based services, there is also a plan to arrange high-quality movie screenings at the information complex. The goal is to give audiences a better experience through modern technology compared to conventional cinema halls. The information minister said there are also plans to create opportunities to screen 3D, 4D and other modern technology-based films there.

He further said that in the future, there are plans to gradually expand these facilities from district level to upazila level. Once expanded, the marginal people of the country will also have the opportunity to come closer to modern information and technology-based services.

The programme was presided over by Mahbuba Farzana, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Additional Secretary of the ministry Md. Shah Alam, Divisional Commissioner of Barishal Khalil Ahmed, Director General of the Department of Mass Communication Md. Abdul Jalil, Administrator of City Corporation Advocate Bilkis Akter Jahan Shirin, Range DIG Zulfikar Ali Haider and Police Commissioner Abu Raihan Muhammad Saleh gave speeches as special guests. Project Director Md. Moniruzzaman delivered the welcome speech at the inauguration ceremony. At that time, Additional Chief Engineer of Barishal Public Works Zone Md. Khaled Hossain, along with officials from various government departments, political leaders and media workers were present.
