Attempts Being Made to Create Chaos Taking Advantage of Power Crisis: PM
Prime Minister Tarek Rahman has said that some individuals are attempting to create chaos on the streets by taking advantage of the country's power crisis. He said that patience and cool-headed planning are required to tackle the crisis, and no problem can be solved in a single day.

He made these remarks on Sunday (August 16) at around 12 PM during the release of fish fry into the old Brahmaputra River at the Mirzapur Chairman Bari Ghat area in Pakundia Upazila, Kishoreganj, on the occasion of National Fisheries Week-2026. He also distributed fish fry among local fishermen and exchanged greetings with locals.

The Prime Minister said, "I know that the people of the entire country—including Dhaka and all districts and upazilas of Bangladesh—are currently suffering from power shortages. Behind this power problem are the unplanned steps taken by the autocratic government. Their unplanned policies have caused this situation in the power and energy sector today."

He said, "The next session of the National Parliament will begin on the 27th. In that session, our party and government will present before the people how the country's power problem will be resolved over the next 10 years, In sha-Allah."

The Prime Minister said, "When we are facing a power crisis today, we must exercise patience in dealing with any crisis. We need to move forward gradually with cool-headed planning. But we are seeing that some individuals are taking advantage of this crisis to create chaos on roads and streets. When chaos is created on the streets, ordinary people are the ones who suffer the most—their businesses and livelihoods are affected."

He further said, "We know that all problems cannot be solved in one day. The autocrat had destroyed every system of this country—from the economy, foreign policy, education system, and health system to everything else. We inherited these in a devastated state after forming the government. That is why we have to rebuild the country from ruins."

Regarding development, the Prime Minister said, "The MP here spoke about bridges and roads earlier. If development had already been done, why weren't these works completed all these years? The reason is that those who previously held the reins of power were not elected by the people's votes. They had forcibly seized power. And that is why they never worked for the people."

The event was attended by Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Kishoreganj District BNP President and State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md. Shariful Alam, District BNP General Secretary and MP for Kishoreganj-1 Md. Mazharul Islam, MP for Kishoreganj-2 Advocate Md. Jalal Uddin, along with local administration officials, political leaders, fishermen, and dignitaries.

Earlier, upon the Prime Minister's arrival at the Mirzapur Chairman Bari Ghat area, local leaders, activists, and general public welcomed him. Later, he released fish fry into the old Brahmaputra River.
