He said this to journalists after meeting the family of Konika Mandal, who died allegedly after a surgical gauze was left in her abdomen following a cesarean in Faridpur, in Baliakandi, Rajbari, on Friday (21 August).

The minister said a five-member investigation committee has been formed over Konika's death, and they have been asked to submit a report within five working days. After receiving the report, strict action will be taken against the guilty according to law.
The minister said the hospitals and clinics that have grown up in various places over a long period have become causes of various problems in the health sector. These problems will be resolved gradually.

He also informed of the plan to set up 50-bed kidney dialysis centers in all medical college hospitals and 10-bed centers at district and upazila levels.
Expressing condolences to Konika's family, Tk 50,000 was provided as government assistance. The health minister also assured that the government would take responsibility for the upbringing of her motherless child.
