Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani conducted the oath ceremony. The ceremony began with the national anthem and recitation from the Quran. After taking the oath, the President signed the oath book and formally assumed his responsibilities.
Mirza Fakhrul sworn in as country's 23rd president
Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, outgoing Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Chief Justice Jubayer Rahman, Opposition Leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Professor Muhammad Yunus, along with cabinet members, parliament members, judges, diplomats and senior government officials were present at the ceremony.
After the presidential oath, the new cabinet members are scheduled to be sworn in. Abdul Moin Khan, Andaleeve Rahman Partha, Saching Pru Jerry, Mohammad Shamim Kayser Linkon and Humayun Kabir are being added to the cabinet. State Minister for Aviation and Tourism Rashiduzzaman Millat will also be sworn in as a full minister.

Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was elected in the presidential election on Thursday with 255 votes. His rival, retired Colonel Oli Ahmad of the 11-party alliance, got 88 votes.
