Earlier, on August 16, a maximum of 805 dengue patients were hospitalized in a single day.
The information was disclosed in the regular dengue bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday (August 23). It said that in the 24 hours from Saturday 8am, 839 dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country.
With this, the number of dengue patients hospitalized this year has risen to 28,929. In the last 24 hours, 796 people were discharged from hospitals after recovery. So far, a total of 26,897 people have recovered and returned home.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, with the five new deaths, the number of dengue deaths this year has reached 82. Of them, 28 died in August alone. Thirty-six died in July, 13 in June, one in May, and two each in January and February.
In the last 24 hours, the highest number of dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka division — 287. Besides, 159 were hospitalized in Khulna, 117 in Barishal, 100 in Chattogram, 79 in Mymensingh and 71 in Rajshahi.
