Opposition leader's courtesy meeting with Netherlands ambassador

On Tuesday (25 August) at 10:00 am, the meeting was held at the official residence of the opposition leader at 29 Minto Road in the capital. During the meeting, the ambassador was accompanied by the embassy's First Secretary (Political Affairs) Jawad Azzaoui and Senior Political Advisor Lubain Chowdhury Masum.

The meeting discussed various issues, including Bangladesh's ongoing political situation, democracy, human rights, bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the Netherlands, and trade and economic cooperation.

The opposition leader praised the initiatives of the Netherlands government in Bangladesh's economic development, tackling climate change challenges, and assisting Rohingya refugees.

On the other hand, the Netherlands ambassador praised the constructive role of the opposition in parliament. He stressed the importance of political stability and regular dialogue between the government and the opposition to ensure development and investment in Bangladesh.

It was expressed at the meeting that the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and the Netherlands would be further strengthened in the future.

After the meeting, the opposition leader showed the ambassador around various graffiti of the July movement at his residence.

The opposition leader's foreign affairs adviser, Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Kaseem Arman MP, and Ali Ahmad Mabroor, a member of the foreign affairs advisory committee, were present at the meeting.
