Red Alert Issued in Makkah Over Forecast of Heavy Rainfall

According to a statement from the Saudi Civil Defense, the Makkah region is expected to experience severe weather conditions. Residents have been urged to exercise maximum caution, stay away from flooded areas, valleys and dams, and follow safety instructions issued by the authorities.

The Red Alert is the highest level of warning issued by Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology. It is issued when extremely hazardous weather conditions are expected.

The Makkah Province has experienced unstable weather and varying levels of rainfall over the past several days. Earlier, on August 21, authorities issued an advance warning of heavy rain in the Al-Ardiyat and Al-Qunfudhah areas, citing the possibility of strong winds, hailstorms, lightning and flash floods.
